The story of the place

Built in 1907–1908 to designs by the architects Marcell Komor and Dezső Jakab, with Ferenc Sztarill as contractor, it is the most monumental Secession building in Oradea. Its glass-roofed arcade links Union Square, Independenței Street and Vasile Alecsandri Street; the stained-glass window with the black eagle was made in 1909 in the Oradea workshop of Neumann K.
