The story of the place

The central square of the Orașul Nou (New Town) district took shape between 1714 and 1740 as the Small Square (Kispiac tér, later Szent László tér). Its present appearance comes from the City Hall, the Greek Catholic Bishop’s Palace, the Black Eagle Palace and the three historic churches; the square underwent extensive restoration in 2015.
