The story of the place

This small triangular square in the Olosig district, dominated by the State Theatre, has been called in turn Bémer Square, Queen Marie, Stalin and Republic Square, and since 1995 has borne the name of King Ferdinand. It is surrounded by early 20th-century buildings: the Astoria Hotel, the Poynár House and the Adorján Houses.
