The story of the place

The Sztarill Palace was built in 1902 by the architect and builder Ferenc Sztarill and extended along Teatrului Street in the following years, in neo-Gothic style with Secession elements. The ground floor housed the EMKE café, where Ady Endre met Léda and where the literary society “A Holnap” was founded in 1908. Converted into a hotel in 1930, it reverted to flats after the war and reopened as a hotel in 1975.
